Support Available for Early Years Qualifications
Workforce Development Funding Pathway 2021-22
We are no longer accepting applications for the academic year 2021/2022, please check back in the summer for information on funding for the academic year 2022/2023. This information will also be included in the Early Years Sector Updates.
Workforce Bursary (maximum of 2 staff members)
This funding can be accessed to support ratio’s for either Level 2 or Level 3 courses which meet the Early Years Educator Standards (full and relevant) by either the diploma or apprenticeship route.
Diploma Route up to 80% (capped at £2000) towards the course fee’s for students undertaking study of qualifications listed as full and relevant. Full and relevant qualifications list
Apprenticeship Route up to £2500 to support the cost of employing an apprentice undertaking study of qualifications listed as full and relevant.
Free Level 3 qualifications available to eligible adults will not be supported by this funding. For more details regarding free Level 3 qualifications available to eligible adults please use the link below.

Workforce Development Grant (maximum of 2 staff members)
This funding can be accessed to support settings with new and existing student members undertaking Level 4 (foundation degree or equivalent) and upwards to complete a BA Honours. This funding is capped at £2000 per student member.

Other funding
For students not eligible for a bursary you may like to consider:
- Advanced Learning Loan for level 3, 4, 5 and 6
- Tuition Fee Loan for level 5/6
It is important to check with the chosen training provider that they accept payment from Student Finance England before applying for a loan.
