EYFS Consultation

The Department for Education has launched a public consultation seeking views on changes to the statutory framework for the early years foundation stage (EYFS).

The consultation includes proposed changes to the educational programmes, the early learning goals and the EYFS profile assessment. It also seeks views on one change to the safeguarding and welfare section of the framework to promote good oral health.

The consultation is available here and will run until 31 January 2020.

EYFS Assessment

‘Assessment plays an important part in helping parents, carers and practitioners to recognise children’s progress, understand their needs, and to plan activities and support.‘
The statutory framework for the early years foundation stage, DfE (2017)

‘From September 2015, local authorities, health visiting services and early years providers will be expected to bring together health and early education reviews for young children at the age of two to two-and-a-half.’
The Integrated Review, NCB (2015)

The EYFS Profile is the statutory assessment that takes place at the end of the EYFS, during the summer term of the year in which the child reaches five, usually in the reception class. The EYFS profile summarises and describes children’s attainment at the end of the EYFS.
