Qualifications/Experience:

Ideally qualified to at least a Level 2 in Childcare or have some experience working in a nursery or early years environment.

Purpose of job
To work as an assistant helping the keyworkers and as part of the Nursery team under the direction of the Nursery Supervisors to provide safe, high quality education and care for young children.

Responsibilities/Extra Information:

A nursery assistant will be expected to:

• Help prepare and set out the classrooms before the children arrive and tidy up after the children leave.
• Understand the emotional and physical needs of young children and with the other staff and parents, care for these needs.
• Support the Nursery Supervisors in encouraging the presence and involvement of parents in the group at all times and behave in an anti-discriminatory way to all members of the group.
• Advise the Nursery Supervisor of any matter requiring attention such as concerns about a child, or equipment needing repair or replacement.
• Attend staff meetings at least once a term.
• To ensure the safety of children and adults in the group at all times
• To retain confidentiality of any information regarding the children, their families or other members of staff that you may become aware of through working as nursery assistant.
• To be trained in/attend a relevant paediatric first aid course.
• To attend child protection/safeguarding courses as necessary.
• To be fully knowledgeable on all our policies and procedures at all times.
