Responsibilities/Extra Information:

Main Duties & responsibilities
• Actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace, ensuring policies and procedures are observed at all times.
• Provide a high level of care that will enhance the children’s general health and well-being and to ensure that all toys and equipment are clean and safe at all times.
• Contribute to a planned curriculum of activities including a variety of outdoor activities, in all weathers, to cover the areas of learning.
• Keep accurate and up to date records of achievement, progress and next steps for your key children.
• As a key person you must identify, record and implement the next steps for your key children's development, ensuring that all children make good progress.
• Work in partnership with parents/carers to provide support and ensuring occasional two-way discussion on child’s progress and well-being.
• Work as part of a team providing support to other team members/colleagues.
• Uphold standards within the preschool by adhering to all policies and procedures.
• Attend training and staff meetings when required.
• Be flexible, be prepared to help where needed, including certain domestic jobs within the preschool.
• Record accidents/incidents accurately with attention to detail. Ensure the Manager/Deputy is aware of all accidents, incidents.
• Look upon the preschool as a "whole", where can your help be most utilised, be constantly aware of the needs of all the children.
• Ensure children are collected by someone known to Setting. Never let anyone in if you do not recognise them.
• Respect the confidentiality of information received or that you may be party to.
• Develop your role within the team.
• Provide intimate care that may be required (after training and only if all checks and references in place) including comfort to an ill child.
• To ensure the preschool is of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development.
• Ensure that every child’s individual needs are known and met, including any special needs in an environment which is free from discrimination and each child is valued and respected.
